ILEA Columbus,
How are you? I'm having a pretty rough go of things and I imagine most of you are in the same boat. The last few weeks have been absolutely brutal for our industry; I don't know a peer who hasn't felt the affects of COVID-19.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to collaborate with numerous ILEA members on Experience Columbus' Annual Meeting. It was a lovely evening celebrating our city and the many hard working people who make it special. I had no idea at the time it would be the last event I had for the foreseeable future, but I can't think of a better way to start a hiatus.
It showed how nothing we accomplish is done in a vacuum, that we are only as strong as the community we create, and that Columbus is absolutely full of the most passionate people around. I find myself thinking of it often as I navigate this new reality and am deeply comforted through the chaos and uncontrollable. Its is why we do what we do, and how we will rebuild-- together.
The ILEA community will be more important than ever as we work to come through to the other side of this crisis. Our international leaders are putting out numerous resources and creating opportunities to connect with event pros all over the country- I have taken advantage of many and have found real, actionable items to help both my business and personal well being.
Locally our board is working to create check ins and open communication between our members. I am so proud to work alongside such caring and giving people. They are so invested in our industry and our members' well being. This crisis won't stop us from looking ahead, and there is still time to join our ranks for next year. Fill out your application by 3/31/20! It was the best career decision I've ever made.
